Learning Recommendations: Successful completion of FO130A/B - French 3 or equivalent. Students expect to commit to an average of 30 minutes of homework per night. In addition, students must have a strong grasp of all simple and most complex tenses, including a working knowledge of subjunctive.

General Description: IB French SL is a yearlong class for students who want to learn more about French grammar and the francophone world at an advanced level. It is expected that IB level students will be able to utilize conversational French to function in the class without the use of English. Preparation for the IB French exam includes in-class essays, multiple speaking/listening assessments, and a variety of written texts. Students in their first year (SL) of IB French have the option of sitting for the Standard Level exam in May.

Note: IB World Language (Language B) is designed as a language acquisition course. The IBO states that the "...Language B course should be a challenging educational experience for the student, offering not only the opportunity to learn an additional language, but also the means of learning, appreciating and effectively interacting in a culture different from the student's own."
